Mutton Chop

Muscle Cars, Muscle Shoals
Look at my socks, see the holes
Drive a Hemi, drive a Chevy
Don't take no lies, don't collect flies
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
It's all I wanna be It's plain to see
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
Ever since I've been in the stroller

I wear the jacket and I can hack it
Got the juice and a place to pack it
Sport the shades, eat filets
Livin the vida, ain't no Velveeta
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
It's all I wanna be It's plain to see
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
I drive a Caddy not a Corolla

What's that you say, you want a bridge
What do I look like, a dentist
Yeah I'll get you a bridge
Come on down to Brooklyn baby I'll get you a nice bridge
Don't take no jive, well you can take five
Paging Mr Brubeck, paging Mr Brubeck

Well it's a little cheesy, Miss thank you pleasy
Drop the needle, squash the beetle
Eat the bug, lookin smug
Down the worm, feel the burn
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
It's all I wanna be It's plain to see
I always told my mama Gonna be a rock and roller
All the way to my back molar
I'm gonna be a rock and roller baby

Mutton Chop is the second song I wrote after coming out of cancer treatment. I was still in shock from the radiation and chemo but I was pissed off and defiant. It was very important to me to make music again. I got it into my head to make a stripped down rockabilly record. I did get two songs into that and may return for more. I love rockabilly!

Ted Broughy is on drums and Bob Shuman plays the lead guitar. The bass was recorded at The Electric Treehouse. Yes that's a real double bass on the track!
