On March 25, 2014 John, Fritz, and myself got together at Alecs wonderful studio. We spent the evening improvising. Fritz and I had played together for years. I had known John for less than a year and was playing in a bar band with him. This was the first time Fritz and John had met.

John was a total hero. While Fritz and I went nuts on guitar and bass John just held it all together.
At the end of the session I announced that I had some words written and I wanted John to read them as a vocal track. I didn't tell John what the words were. We set him up with a microphone and a music stand. When we were ready to record I put the words in front of them. What you hear on this recording is John reading the words in the first take. He has no idea what he's about to say next. Again, I think John did an amazing job.

The words are a true story about a business trip I took to New York. It's about what happened on the cab ride back to the airport. The ride happened exactly the way John describes it. Only in New York!
